Our speaker for the September 2016 meeting was the well known and highly respected local architect John Cotner. Mr. Cotner has been involved with many significant architectural projects on Amelia Island and has extensive experience in single and multi-family housing design and construction, specialty commercial, restoration, religious, hospitality and assembly architecture. The EABC was pleased to once again hold a Petanque social and mixer as our June meeting in 2016. The event was held on June 14th and we enjoyed the game of petanque, friendly conversation and networking. In August the EABC group visited the White Oak Conservation Center near Yulee for a half-day tour of the facility. We enjoyed a great walk-through of several of the buildings, which house a wonderful collection of artifacts and artistic objects, we toured the grounds in open safari-type vehicles to see the animals and even got off occasionally to feed and or pet some of the more docile creatures. Our March meeting featured Steve Leimberg, a national award winning nature photographer with local roots. Steve gave a very entertaining and educational presentation, highlighting some of his most useful tips and suggestions for successful photography, especially when traveling. He used his own photographs to show many examples of his suggested techniques and demonstrated how the average photographer can improve their own results. Our guest speaker for the February, 2016 meeting was Ms. Nan Kavanaugh, Editor of First Coast Magazine and HealthSource Magazine. As a long-time resident of Fernandina Beach and now Jacksonville, Nan is very familiar with the local culture, business environment and social life.
