We decided on a European theme for this day. So our meeting took place at Café Karibo in historic Fernandina Beach. Members learned about the Café and Egyptian chef Essab created some exquisite hors-d-oeuvres.
The speaker was Phillipe Boets from Petanque America. He introduced us to the history of Petanque and showed us the evolution of the steel balls that are used in this stationary game. He also mentioned that the tournament which will take place here in Fernandina Beach in November already has over 120 teams from all over the world competing.
Because the weather did not cooperate we were not able to to hold our mini Petanque tounament in the couryard of the café. At any rate we all had a great time.
Thank you Café Karibo for the outstanding catering and to Phillipe for a great presentation.
