2014 November  meeting - Brandy Carvalho White OakBrandy Carvalho, Development Officer at White Oaks Conservation was the guest speaker and gave our group a little history and background of White Oaks.
White Oaks is located on the banks of the St. Mary’s River and encompasses more than 7,400 acres of hardwood hammocks, pine forest, and tidal wetlands. The property was acquired by the Gilman family in 1938 and philanthropist Howard Gilman established a significant program for the conservation and propagation of imperiled species at White Oak in 1982. In March 2013, White Oak was acquired by Mark and Kimbra Walter.
