Our guest speaker for the November meeting was travel expert, Ange Wallace, President, Wallace Pierson Travel here on Amelia Island. Ange is a true travel consultant who walks the walk, flies the skies and sails the seas and is therefore well-qualified to guide others who wish to explore the world.
She shared some of her knowledge and advice about how travel has evolved over the years and suggest some new and exciting destination ideas. She also offered some guidance on how to experience old destinations in new ways, such has how the river boat excursions have improved in Europe and have now migrated to other countries such as China and India. She also talked about an effort to revitalize the Mississippi paddle boat cruises, which offer a domestic adventure. Another idea she is promoting is to take advantage of some the current environmentally sustainable expeditions that help improve the destination area during the visit.
Ange talked about how travel to America’s national parks has evolved over time and how the experience can be surprising to the uneducated traveler. Tour companies have bought out a majority of the prime lodging space at many national parks and they are the only way in if you want to stay at a park’s cabins or lodge. The good side of that however, is that many of the tour companies do a really good job of providing a positive outcome for the traveler with their enhanced knowledge of the park.
If you feel travel bug nibbling at your toes, give her a call for some of the best travel advice on the island.
Wallace Pierson Travel, formerly The Travel Agency, was founded by Jim and Ange Wallace in 1974 on Amelia Island. Jim and Ange met while both worked for Pan American Airways and both had a passion for travel. The agency evolved throughout the years to specialize in luxury travel which is why they joined Virtuoso in 1996. Angela Pierson came back to the agency in 2005 after two years in sales for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and is now co-owner. Wallace Pierson Travel was re-branded as they no longer “sell travel” but collaborate with well-educated travelers to plan the perfect experience. www.wallacepiersontravel.com Wallace Pierson Travel, Member Virtuoso, 1401 Park Ave Suite A, Amelia Island, FL 32034
